Products that belong in a bin: home bins, overflow and shelf labels

What this is

You can tell CanShip which products belong in a bin. A product has one home bin in each warehouse, and can have overflow bins as well. Saying where a product belongs does not move any stock.

Open the bin

  1. Go to Settings > Locations and find the bin.
  2. Click the Edit icon at the right end of its row. Scroll the list sideways if you cannot see it.
  3. Look at Products that belong here.

Assigning or removing a product takes effect at once. You do not need to click Save.

When the bin already holds the product

If the bin holds a product that is not assigned to it, CanShip lists it under In this bin now, not assigned, with the number of units in the bin. One button does the rest:

  • Assign: the product has no home bin in this warehouse yet. This bin becomes its home.
  • Add as overflow: the product's home is another bin, and the line names it. This bin is added as an overflow bin and marked Overflow. The home bin does not change.

Assign a product by hand

  1. Under the list, choose the Client.
  2. Choose the Product. You can type part of the SKU to find it.
  3. Click Assign.

Print the shelf label

Once a product is assigned, click Print labels. The label is 6 by 4 inches and shows the bin, the client, the product and its SKU, with codes to scan.

Remove a product from a bin

Click the trash icon beside the product. It is removed at once and no stock moves. If the product is still in the bin, CanShip offers it again under In this bin now, not assigned.

See a product's home bin

Go to Catalog > Products and edit the product. Home location shows its home bin for each warehouse.
