Notifications: the bell in the header

What this is

The bell in the header, beside your account name, lists things in the warehouse that need someone to act on them. The number on the bell is how many of them you have not seen yet.

Read it

  1. Click the bell. The list opens on Needs doing, newest first, with a count at the top, for example "22 things need doing."
  2. Click All to also see what has been dealt with. Those lines are greyed and say how each was dealt with and when, with a name where a person did it.
  3. Click Open all notifications for the same list on a full page.

Opening the bell clears your number. It does not clear the list: a line stays under Needs doing until the thing it reports has been fixed. If you choose a client in the header, the bell shows the lines for that client.

On a narrow screen, such as a phone, the bell is not in the bar. A red circle on the account icon shows your number. Tap the icon, then Notifications, to open the full list. Reading it clears the circle.

What it reports

These are lines the bell shows today, in the words it uses. The SKU, bin and order numbers are examples.

  • Stock on hold after a Can't Find. "RA-004: 197 units on hold at 02-CA-04-B1 until the bin is counted". The line names the order, the pick job and who reported it. It appears within seconds of the picker's report. Click it to open Settings > Locations on the bins waiting for a count.
  • An order left short by a Can't Find. "Order #172 is short: RA-004 was not found at pick".
  • A bin waiting for a count. "02-CA-04-B1 is waiting for a count".
  • A product with no weight on an order to ship. "RA-004 has no weight and is on an order to ship". A label cannot be bought for a parcel with no weight, so enter it on the product. Click the line to open Catalog > Products showing only the products in that state.
  • An order allocated from a bin holding expired stock. The line names the SKU, the bin, the lot and its expiry date. Click it to open the order.

Apart from the Can't Find hold, these are checked every few minutes, so a line can take a few minutes to appear and to close.

How a line closes

These lines close when the work is done, not when someone reads them:

  • A Can't Find hold closes when the bin is counted. Under All it then reads "Counted by" and the name of whoever counted it.
  • If someone releases the hold from the Inventory page instead, it reads "Hold released by hand". The bin still reads Count requested until it is counted.
