What this is
The Orders list is where you find orders and act on several at once.
Find orders
- Type an order number, a store order number, a client's name or an outside warehouse's reference in the search box above the list.
- Use the tabs to narrow the list: Active, Open, Ready, Shipped, Cancelled or All.
- The search looks only in the tab you are on. If the order is on another tab, the list says so. Click Search all tabs to see it.
- The filters under the tabs narrow the list further, for example by client, warehouse, carrier or tag. The Carrier filter finds orders that have a label from that carrier; a voided label does not count.
- When nothing matches, the list says why. Clear search empties the search box. If filters are on as well, the button reads Clear search & filters and clears both.
- If a client is pinned in the header, the list and the search cover that client only. When nothing matches, the list names that client and offers Show all clients, which sets the header back to All clients.
What the row colours mean
Each row is tinted by how much of the order has stock allocated to it.
- Green: fully allocated.
- Amber: partly allocated.
- Red: nothing allocated.
The tint is also stronger the more the order needs attention: red is the strongest and green the faintest, so the three can be told apart without relying on the colour alone.
To list one kind, click Unallocated, Partial or Allocated beside the tabs. Any Inv. shows them all again.
A Partly Shipped order whose unshipped items are fully allocated is green, and is listed under Allocated. Shipped and Cancelled orders have no tint. An order held by an outside warehouse has no tint, and is not listed under Unallocated, Partial or Allocated.
Act on several orders
- Go to Orders > Orders.
- Tick the box on each order you want.
- Click Actions and choose one.
Under each action, the menu says which orders it works on. An action that fits none of the orders you ticked is greyed out, with the reason. Orders that do not fit are skipped, and the message afterward tells you how many.
The actions
- Mark ready: for Open orders that are fully allocated.
- Mark open: for Ready orders. It puts them back to Open.
- Allocate inventory: tries to allocate stock to orders that are short. If there is nothing to allocate, the message says so and counts the orders still short.
- Split unallocated remainder: for a partly allocated order. The part with no stock moves to a new order, named after the original with -1 added. The original keeps its allocations and can ship now. CanShip asks before it splits.
- Assign to warehouse: choose the warehouse. The list shows whether each warehouse has the stock. The order's allocations are released and made again there.
- Mark as shipped: for Ready, fully allocated orders that went out without a CanShip label. Choose the carrier, or choose Other and type its name, or tick Local pickup (no carrier). Stock is deducted and a shipment with no label is recorded. Tracking numbers are not recorded when you do this for several orders at once.
- Cancel orders: for Open and Ready orders. CanShip asks first, names the orders and says how many allocated units go back to stock. You can type a reason when you cancel; it is kept with the order, where you can change it later. A cancelled order can be reopened from its own window with Reopen Order; it comes back Open with nothing allocated. An order picked into a tote can be cancelled once its pick job is complete: the tote is released, and the message tells you which bins to put its units back in.
- Add to pick job: for Ready, allocated orders that are not already in a job. Start a new pick job or choose an existing one.
- Remove from pick job: takes the ticked orders out of their pick jobs. Orders that are in no job are skipped.
- Tag selected: type a tag and click Tag. The tag shows in the Tags column. To take a tag off, open the order and click the x on the tag.
- Duplicate orders: makes a new Open order for each order ticked, with the same client, warehouse, ship-to and items. CanShip asks first.
To act on one order, use the menu at the end of its row.
