What this is

How to connect your Stallion Express account so its rates and labels are available in CanShip. You create an API token in Stallion Express and paste it into CanShip.

Before you start

  • You need a Stallion Express account. Labels are paid from the credits on that account.
  • You need a CanShip login that can open Settings > Carriers.

1. Create the token in Stallion Express

  1. In Stallion Express, go to Settings > Integrations > API.
  2. Create a v5 token with these scopes: rates:read, shipments:read, shipments:write, shipments:void, labels:create, addresses:validate, products:read and products:write.
  3. Copy the token.

The two products scopes let CanShip keep your product catalogue in Stallion Express up to date and read which products Stallion has approved for the US.

2. Connect it in CanShip

  1. In CanShip, go to Settings > Carriers.
  2. On the Stallion Express card, click Set Up. The Configure Stallion Express form opens.
  3. Paste the token into API Token (v5).
  4. The Shipper Address block is optional. Fill it in only to override the sender details.
  5. Under Which clients can ship with this carrier?, choose All clients, None for now, or pick individual clients.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Click Edit, then Test Connection.

Stallion Express rates now appear when you rate a parcel for an assigned client.

Shipping to the US

For a parcel to the US, each product in it needs a full 10-digit HS code. See Shipping across the border: customs details.

What can go wrong

  • The connection test fails. Check the token is a v5 token and has every scope listed above.
  • Stallion refuses a label for lack of credits. Add credits to your Stallion Express account, then buy the label again.
  • A client gets no Stallion Express rates. Check the client is assigned to Stallion Express on the card, under Assigned Clients.
  • The token was deleted or replaced in Stallion Express. Click Edit, use Replace beside the token, paste the new one and save.
