What this is

How to connect your UPS account so its rates and labels are available in CanShip. You sign in at UPS, then add your shipper number and ship-from address.

Before you start

  • You need the username and password you use on UPS's site for the account you ship on.
  • You need your UPS account number. It is the 6-character shipper number on your UPS invoices.
  • You need a CanShip login that can open Settings > Carriers.

1. Sign in at UPS

  1. In CanShip, go to Settings > Carriers.
  2. On the UPS card, click Connect UPS. The page goes to UPS.
  3. Sign in and follow UPS's steps.
  4. UPS sends you back to the Carriers page, which says "UPS is connected. Add the shipper number and ship-from address under Edit, then Test Connection."

2. Add the shipper number and address

  1. On the UPS card, click Edit. The Configure UPS form opens.
  2. Enter your UPS account number. Signing in does not fill this in.
  3. Fill in the Shipper Address. Shipper Name, Shipper Phone, Address Line 1, Shipper City, Shipper State/Province, Shipper Postal Code and Shipper Country Code are required.
  4. Under Which clients can ship with this carrier?, choose All clients, None for now, or pick individual clients.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Click Edit again, then Test Connection.

UPS rates now appear when you rate a parcel for an assigned client.

Check the account number twice

Test Connection cannot check the account number. UPS only checks it when the first label is bought, and that label is billed to it. A wrong number passes the test, and UPS then refuses the first label.

If you filled in the form first

You can do the two parts in either order. If the account number and address are saved but you have not signed in, the card shows a chip that starts with "Needs". Click Connect UPS to finish.

What can go wrong

  • "UPS sign-in was cancelled or refused. Nothing was changed." Click Connect UPS and start again.
  • "That UPS connection link had expired." Too long passed between starting and finishing. Click Connect UPS to start again.
  • "UPS accepted the sign-in but CanShip could not finish the connection." Try again. If it keeps failing, contact support.
  • The button on the card reads Reconnect UPS. The sign-in has stopped working. Click it and sign in again.
  • The first label is refused. Check the UPS account number under Edit.
  • A client gets no UPS rates. Check the client is assigned to UPS on the card, under Assigned Clients.
